As a few posters who have accidentally spilled (air freshener/cologne/other chemicals) on them can attest, the standard trim is painted plastic, not brushed aluminum.

contrary to a lot of people on this forum I dont mind the wood look, I would just like to get it back to a condition that eliminates scratches and dullness...

I will see if I can pickup the 3M stuff from some shops here in Canada.
