Default New IS 350 Owner from C32

Ok, I haven't logged in to "Club Lexus" for about 5 years since I sold my 98 GS 400 w/ super charger; 250 shot direct port NOS, t/c, upper strut bar, sway bars, suspension, rimm exhaust, tranny, intake, body kit................ got a Mercedes C32 with a stage 2 evo sport kit drove it for 5 yrs+ however high up-keep costs of 4000+ per year to keep it running were too much so I just got an IS 350 Mica gray which will stay mostly stock except the Five Axis S5's 19x 8.5 and 19 x 9.5; 235/35:265/30 gun metal. While it is not as fast as eith of my previous cars is it sure fun to drive. One thing I learned over the past 10 years DO NOT put more than 5k into suspension or performance on any stock car! Just buy the next car up on the ladder. IS-F used for 45-49k good example...

Wise men learn form mistakes of others, while fools learn from their own"!

Thanks for all posts I read that have helped me answer all my questions.

I had considered purchasing both a Mercedes and a BMW; however, based on what Consumer's Reports routinely has to say about those brands with respect to maintenance costs (and reliability), I decided to purchase a Lexus. That is an opinion, I might add, not at all shared by Car & Driver and Road & Track; but afterall, they are biased. I did take a Mercedes and a BMW for a test drive though, for the fun of it.

Welcome back, roe.

You said MB, BMW and reliability in the same sentence

Welcome back to the mother land. I too strayed off with a Revo tuned Audi S4 and had nothing but problems from day one. i have over 12k on the F and not one issue!

You should at least get springs to lower is. With 19' wheels you'll be riding 4x4 without some kind of lowering suspension.

I didn't get the F becasue of the economy. 27K was a great! price. 45k for a used F was a little much this year. I think I will sell this IS in 3 years for a GS-F (if they have it) or a M-5 (under Warranty) or maybe a refined GX if they have it. Wife has RX330, we will get the 2010 RX next year.
