Default Left my is250 running idle for 3 hours

I am not sure how it happened, but i just walked outside to check something and i apparently left the car running for about 3 hours idle. Is there anything that i should check on for allowing it to run this long idle??

I can't believe i did this.

Thanks

Should be fine, other than you're gonna have to fill up soon . Since the car was running, so was your alternator, so the battery is fine. Out of curiosity, did you leave the fob in the car?

Wow!!! That was amazing! I actually thought I would of been one of the first doing that. Well....I'm pretty sure nothing bad should have happened.

As far as leaving the fob in your car........I believe if you walk out of your car, your car should give you a warning beep sound that there is no key detected in the vehicle, but the car should run until it is turned off. You must of been used to that beeping sound or someone rushed out of the car to use the bathroom.

When the fob leaves the car when the vehicle is running, the car usually chirps at you for a few moments to remind you the car is still running.

The car stays on no matter how far the key fob is.

what happens if you try to put the car in gear and drive it without the fob inside?

thanks all for the replies, it appears i didnt do much damage other than burning gas. I still can't believe I did this but thankfully it didn't damage the car. Now the question above about someone taking off in the car is a good question.

Even without the FOB anywhere near once the car is running it will go as far as someone wants to drive it. It will only stop when it is turned off or it runs out of gas. Once the engine is running it doesn't matter where the FOB is. And "yes", the car does "beep" if the FOB leaves the car and the engine is running.
