Why did you buy an IS?

Why did you buy an IS?
All, I'm going to buy either a IS350, a G37 Sedan, or a 328i Sedan (335 is more than I'm willing to spend). I just really started seriously looking - I took an IS350 for a drive today. I have to say that it's a real nice car. It's pretty much exactly what I want in a car - refined with nice performance - and in my research I think I like the Lexus the best. I'm not necessarily looking for a car with the fastest 0-60 times but I do like the 350 vs the 250 for performance reasons. I haven't driven the others yet. I'm thinking a lot of people in this forum probably considered these three cars (or maybe a subset of them) - so I'm curious, what motivated you to get the IS versus a competitor? Apperance? Quality? Name brand? Ride? Performance? Did some annoyance eliminate the others that I listed above from your consideration? I'm not asking for you to do my home work I was just hoping I could get some candid feedback on why you bought your IS...

I was in the market for a 250 AWD. A similarly equiped 328 would be much more expensive, so I ruled that out. It basically came down to that an a G35x, and the styling and quality of materials really did it for me--2 factors which will be the same for a 350 as well.

price wise for me it came down to a g35 or an is250. i test drove both, but i fell in love with my interior. it just outclasses the g35. 4 doors also out ruled the 2 door. and imo the is250 looks a lot better.

I was looking at CPO 2007 335's and IS350's. Since I already had a C300, I did not want a redundant C350. I liked the BMW coupe but not the sedan.
In the end the quality/power/luxury/reliability of the IS350 won out.

IS tops on both reliability and quality. BMW has slight edge in handling but in the long run you will pay for reliability problems. G37 is nice but I don't like the interior and MPG is worse than IS.

With that said I love my car. It's beautiful, solid, should be reliable, and the fit and finish are superb.

I came from a 2004 G35 Coupe so I never considered the G37.... Infiniti is nice, but the interior isnt as nice as the IS. I originally wasn't even looking for a sedan or even a lexus. I was planning on buying a SUV or something. I went to the local Lexus dealership to test drive a RX and saw the IS, My friend had just bought an ISF so i decided to test drive the IS350 and I fell in love with it! The acceleration is so much better than my G35 coupe. The interior is alot more comfortable, the leather is alot smoother and soft. The G also is not as fast as the IS350 althought it does handle alot better, but you could always get the F-sport Sways and that will improve the bodyroll significantly. This is definitely the best car I have ever driven and I never regret getting this car as I did with the Infiniti when I got that. It looks alot more aggressive than the G37 and all the other cars in its class as well

Interior, styling, power.!!!! I test drove all comparable models as well. Benz,BMW etc.. till I was on a first name basis with all the dealers on Stevens Creek Auto Row LOL..... In the end it was close between the BMW and Lexus...the interior won me out on the Lexus...but the handling of the BMW still hauntes me till this day.

the truth? i was visiting my brother in san jose, we went down stevens creek and i had looked at all the cars in this class. the last stop was lexus and i sat inside the car, and i instantly knew i wanted it from the interior. the main selling point was the arm rest and how it was so low to the shifter . a week later i went back to hawaii, and next day i got my IS

Reliability was the biggest reason followed by my opinion of it being the best compromise between the other cars in its class. I am in college and need a reliable car since I only have one and can not use rentals or loaners if something occurs that requires the car be kept in the shop.

In 2006 I was in the market for an entry-level sports sedan. The IS350 caught my eye due to it's best-in-class performance and styling. I intended to make a decision between the IS, the G35, and the BMW 330i.
After my test drive, I bought the IS350 on the spot. The other two never really had a chance.
