Default Saying goodby to our IS....

And replacing it with a very nice GS AWD! Wife decided to assist the govenrment with our own stimulus package and 'donate' to the poor unappreciated auto dealers and manufacturers. Picking up our new GS next Saturday and retiring the IS. Been a lot of good info here and although I haven't posted much, I have appreciated the group. Cheers to all of you from one of the old farts on the forum!

I'll try, but will have to wrestle it away from my wife - and those redheads are seriously dangerous!

Nice pickup on the GS. I had a GS the other day for my loaner car from the dealer. Nice ride, definitely on my short list for when/if I switch over to a larger sedan someday.

Sound like a nice upgrade. You must like the SGM color.

We got very lucky, wife's IS lease is up in a couple of months, our rep had originally sold (leased out) this GS. Owner called him to return from lease early. Rep called us, and we got there quickly as GS's do not last around here. I had told our rep that we would consider a good lease return should one come in, but had seen nothing for months. Lexus had not even had a chance to touch the car before we saw it, so we had a chance to really go over it in original condition. The GS looks literally like new. Owner was not married, no kids, not a mark on the interior, I swear the back seats were never used, and the trunk is spotless. He had all weather mats, so the original Lexus mats are in the trunk, brand new, never used. There are two very minor rock chips at the edge of the clear bra on the hood, and even those are hard to see. Car is well loaded and CPO'd. Low mileage, and decent price. We are pleased - OK "She Who Must Be Obeyed" is pleased, therefore I'm pleased! GS going through inspection next couple of days, and since we live a fair distance away (1.5 + hours drive), we will wait till next Saturday to pick up then we can take a leisurely drive home, the long way.

Another stroke of good fortune - as SWMBO wanted another SGM, this just happened to be one. As previously stated, up here in the Northwest, you just don't see many GS's, people don't seem to be willing to spend those bucks, or if they are, they go right to the LS line. Finding a GS AWD is really unusual, and having it pristine condition was great.

Thanks, appreciate the sentiments. I've lived with that quote for a long time. Have a lot of my 'brothers' who will remain forever young. Here is another quote to live by:

A 'Veteran' - - whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve - - is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United State of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including their life.'
