My Engine went completely bad and is either going to be rebuilt or the dealership may put in a JARCO replacement. Does anyone know the history on these things? I was also wondering if it would affect the resale value of my car?

Jarco are used engines imported from Japan....from a used market source. These are usally the best of the bunch. Most of these engines are low mileage since a lot of their sources come from "turn in cars" due to increase tax rate on older cars. From what I know myself they usally average around 30-40K miles. Still a "used engine" source though.

I'm replying because I read this forum before proceeding with a Jarco remanufactured engine that was installed by Toyota. After only 5 months, the engine started leaking oil, which I discovered because it leaked onto my brand new concrete driveway. I've had another Toyota look at it to confirm it was the engine and not because of an oil change. I'm not sure what will happen from this point, but I'm adding my experience for anyone researching Jarco.

oil leaks suck but they don't kill an engine. Lack of oil would kill the engine. Use high mileage oil and an oil stabilizer like Lucas Oil etc and your car should run fine for years to come. Just my 2 cents, feel free to update us anytime.
