Default Gap in dashboard above center vents -- Can anything be done?

I have a gap in my dashboard, about 2-3mm, along the top of the center vent register. It's tight in the corners but opens toward the middle, and the sides of the vent register are tight. When I push the top of the dashboard down to close the gap, I notice that it's rather stiff... Can anything be done about this?

I looked at a few used IS250's on Ebay to see if other cars have this problem -- some do and some dont.

What did the dealer say... that the gap is normal? Or did they try to repair and it was unsuccessful? Is replacing the upper dashboard the only solution?

Their tolerance for the gap is 3mm so you are still within spec. If you make enough noise they might do something about it but I would say just leave it be. They'll probably make it worse by reinstalling it.

I had the same problem, and asked the dealer to fix it. Lexus told them to fabricate a new bracket, and now I have a gap on top and on the left side, and they are saying it's "within spec".

So much for those tight Lexus tolerances...

Yeah I just noticed my gap too. I don't recall seeing it before I installed my iPod integration kit which requires you to remove the Nav unit to plug in some wires. I might just be trippin' though lol

i have the same gap from day 1. it bothers me for a while but the last thing i want the dealer do is to replace the dash and create rattles, so i left it alone.
