Default My 2nd trip to the dealer - Full experience inside

My IS350 is currently at the Lexus dealership... When I purchased my car new, I also purchased the wheel and tire warranty (5 years) for $350. I felt that was a good purchase as I've destroyed both rims and tires in the past hitting potholes in the DC area and a new rim can easily cost over $350 alone...

Anyway, I noticed damage to my tire today so I took the car to the dealership to have the tires repaired/replaced under warranty. I dropped the car off and was waiting while they did the work and right away they came and got me and informed me that there are 2 recall campaigns for my VIN, the fuel rails and the brakes... They said they would need to keep the car until tomorrow so I left the car with them and will pick it up tomorrow... (I never received any letters in the mail btw)

I am reluctant to let them do the recall work, but I have been smelling occasional odors of gasoline (Maybe once or twice a month) for a few months now so that was enough to get me to leave the car with them... If they can stop the smell of gas, I guess it will have been worth it... Anyway, I've changed my signature to reflect 2 visits to the dealership, and will update this post tomorrow when I pick the car up...

Pray for me and my car, thank you.

Did you get a loaner? What is it and how does it compare to your IS?

ThoLe, I haven't gotten my fuel lines replaced yet, does it mean, when I go in to do it, I'm gonna get me a free alignment also?

Which dealer did you take it to?

The alignment only comes with the steering rack recall. fuel line and brake recalls do not get the alignment. Check your available recalls at owners.lexus.com

I had 3 service campaigns (steering rack, calipers, fuel rails) completed at my dealer on a Sat. and it took them about 5 hours to complete it. They gave me an RX as a loaner, a free alignment & filled my tank. Good luck!

I purchased something similar (or was told something similar) but when I went to the dealership about the wheels, they said that it is only when the wheels are dented after a tire blowout. Hmm... but I sold my car and I am trying to get the prorated amount back!

Free alignment....lucky, I didn't get a free alignment, but did get me the gas. Definitely should take care of warranty/recall work. They recall it for a reason, get it fixed.

LOL. You are so scared of the dealership. Love the dealership and it will love you.

P.S. Let me know when you are in the Chi. I still owe you that dinner!

Ya, the wheels really need to be destroyed before they will replace them, otherwise they just consider it cosmetic. The tires though they should replace if they get torn, bubble in the sidewall, or a hole that cannot be safely patched.

You can get a full prorated refund at ANY TIME for your extended wheel/tire warranty.
