If it's on the car when you bought it, you might as well just leave it on there they charged you an extra $69 as an installed option

I like mine. I just clean around the edge from time to time so you can't see the edge.

I took delivery of my 09 GFM in December 08 and as the sale manager was showing me the car because they had put chrome rims on it, i asked him to take that bumper aplique off. He took it off and it just left a bit of glue on the bumper which you can wipe off with any solvent. I did not like it because I could see dirt getting underneath it and around the edges and wax too. I too thought it was cheesy....

I actually ordered it on my special-order IS. I also got massive clear bra, and they just clear bra'd the back. I missed the logo at first, but my personalized license plate would overwhelm it anyway. I just liked the fact that it had the official logo on it.

I agree...take it off...it's the worst idea they've come up with....it's for people older that 60 that need to DRAG their ****** out of the trunk and onto the bumper....if it leaves a sticky residue, clean it off with mineral spirits or alcohol....if you're gonna do it, do it soon....there will be a color change of the paint the longer it stays on.....it's UV protected. I spoke with a saleman at Seattle Lexus and he said it's worthless and a waste of money to get one....unless you drag ****** onto your bumper...lol

It does affect your paint, its basically a clear bra.. So it acts as another clear coat on your car. The paint underneath the film ages just like the rest of the car. So dont think when you remove it, the paint will be a different shade.

That's weird. My dealer did the EXACT same thing to me when I went to buy my GFM in '08. When the car finally arrived at the dealership, they threw on chrome rims, rear bumper sticker (applique), tint, and some other stuff and jacked the price up $5000 (!). The worst part was they refused to take the stuff off. So I walked and found one elsewhere through the internet. A month later I came back in for my service with my new GFM and the original salesperson came over to me and said, "how did you get that car?" Ummm... it's called I went to a dealer who didn't try gouging me.... duh. (I said it politely of course).

So you're saying that the paint clear coat is UV protection aslo? So having a double layer of UV protection won't make a difference? That's like saying suntan lotion of SP10 is the same as SP40....I do body work on cars that have clear bra applications....there is a difference in the shade of color when it's removed....it's not like black and white, but when in the sun, you can see a very slight change in color....but I'm sure you've done more than I have, so I guess you would know better.
