Check engine and VSC twice now

About a month or two ago, turning right out of a driveway, the dash lit up with the VSC and all the associated warning lights. I pulled over, turned off, restarted and no lights. Everything was fine until . . .
Today, sitting at a drive-thru, idling - the dash lit up again. Again, I turned off the engine, restarted and no lights. I did fill the tank about 10 minutes/20 miles earlier. I checked the gas cap and it was on solidly.
Will these events be recorded in the computer for later diagnosis? I'm about 1500 miles away from my 30K maintenance and figured I'd wait and bring it up at that time - unless someone convinces me I'm doing harm by waiting.

There was nothing wrong with my VSC. The check engine light was because my O2 and Air-flow sensor both went out.
They replaced my fuel rail even though my car wasnt effected by the recall. I am just glad i am not driving a Jetta. those seats are horrible!
njmurvin your gas mileage might suffer little if you have the same problem as mine. I didnt have a lose of power when this happened.
