Default Stripped Wheel Lock

I was detailing my wheels and was able to get all of them off except for the front passenger wheel. The nuts were tighter to get off, and when I tried to get the wheel lock off, it started slipping. Inspecting the lock and the head for it, they started getting stripped.

Any suggestions for how to remove it, and if dealership is willing to cover it? This was the first time I tried taking these wheels off myself, so either it was overtorqued at the dealership or they stripped it before.

let me guess, you never took a wheel lock off by hammering a socket into it

Tried that too, still stripped before it would want to budge.

you should be able to get a smaller socket onto the wheel lock after some good old fashion beatings with a hammer but then for sure you will have to buy another lock and maybe socket..

They got you a new wheel lock/replacement nut also free of charge?

wheels locks are pointless. if someone really wants to steal your wheels, no silly little lock is going to stop them.

It might, and it will definitely slow them down

Nope, but they help me take off all my wheels and put on the new ones with their universal key.

yea pretty much, easy to get off if you have the lug nut kit that allows you take off the stripped lug nuts. unfortunately the locks are crap, i had the key bust on me and the lock nut itself crack. the last time the wheels was off of it is when lexus had it. had to go borrow the kit to get it off and just bought 4 new lug nuts.

How much are 4 individual lug nuts to buy from the dealership?
I figure this'll be the cheapest/most reliable method.

The dealer *should* have given you the original lug nuts when you bought the car. Of course, I can't remember if Lexus did this for me--I know Acura and Honda did it--I had to put the original ones back on each car as I lost both the keys.
