Question Lexus Rear Bumper Applique?

Does anyone have experience with Lexus 'Bumper Applique'? Never seen it, and wondering:
- is it solid and hard or a sticker similar to clear bra, is it hard to get it aligned and straight when installing, and is it easy to take off
- how much of the rear bumper does it cover
- how does it look (good/bad/indifferent)

Also, I have a noticeable scratch on the top of the bumper where the bumper applique would cover and was wondering if the scratch would be visible through the applique? In other words, is the applique completely transparent?

Here's the Lexus link to the IS version:

Any comments, and especially, and images, are most appreciated.

Thanks.

It is clear, with the Lexus name in white. It covers all of the upper facing part of the bumper, and about 3 inches down onto the rear face, sweeping up on the sides to meet the top. The cars in the southeast generally come with them applied by the distribution center, so I can't say how hard it would be to install but mine has no bubbles or mis-alignment so there is a way. I don't know if it applies wet or is an adhesive. The latter would make it pretty tough to align and place as a DIY. Maybe someone on the list has done it. On my Obsidian IS, it's not noticable, other than seeing the Lexus name and even that is a muted white. I don't think it would cover a scratch but you'd probably be OK if it's just an abrasion and you use some Meguiars Scratch-X first.

ohh great pic, thanks!

I was wondering if it is hard to keep it clean and unnoticeable because I hear about a lot of people complaining and wanting to remove it because it builds up dirt, wax, and grime along the edges making it look cheesy or unsightly.

I have one on mine and it looks fine. My car is only 4 months old so I can't speak for how it will look in a few years but with TLC it should be fine. I like it.

High mark up item that does nothing but stand out. Just be careful loading items in and out of your trunk and take care of your car. No need to add on things like this. It's in the same category as a truck hood guards, door edge guards, dash mats, curb feelers, and mudflaps. Save your money.
