2010 models won't arrive at dealers until late September/Early October, they're still building 09s now.

My timetable was:

Order went in late July 07, he confirmed it was submitted when I checked at end of July and said delivery should be end of sept/start of october.... I checked in on Sept 4 and he said it was still on track but he couldn't give me anything more specific until it was in their inventory (2-4 weeks prior to arriving at dealer)

9/22 it entered their inventory, 9/30 it arrived at port, 10/5 I picked it up from dealership.

The dealers accumulate orders for a month. Once a month the dealers submit the orders to the regional office which in turn submit the orders to the factory. Once submitted the order gets a build date. Before the regional office submits the order you won't get any confirmation. You can not get a VIN until the vehicle is loaded on the boat. It will take about 4 months to get the car. Establish the price when you order. You will get an 09. You will not be able to place an order for an 10 until nx August or September.

One major reason dealers don't like to special order is because if you cancel the order they have another car to sell. It can also be difficult for a dealer to sell a special order car if the specs are not part of their region's normal build profile.

I special ordered and am very happy I waited and purchased exactly what I want.

Lexus is a high service company but they don't handle communication of special orders very well. The German manufacturers do a good job of keeping you in the loop. Be EXTREMELY patient and only buy from a dealer that you trust because waiting 4 months will try your patience.

Enjoy when it arrives. The IS is a great product.

Also be aware that, if you want some car optioned in a totally freaky manner, some places will require a non-refundable deposit.

Your story reminds me of mine. I placed an order for an IS250 RWD last April and they told me I will see my car in late June. When late June came around, they didn't even have confirmation. I was furious because they kept on delaying and delaying until the realistic date went as late as September (which basically meant my car was going to arrive just before the 09's. I ultimately made them offer another solution, upgrade me to an IS350 demo with navi and ML for around the same monthly cost as the IS250. So they did .

I for sure ran out of patience after 3-4 months. So they're right. Patience is key.

Many may require a deposit, but if it's non-refundable or not, regardless of if the dealer tells you it is, will depend on the laws in your state.

(mine didn't require one at all by the way)

Park assist is almost certainly a -factory- option. I would be very surprised if the headlamp washers aren't a factory option as well.

The ipod and spoiler are easy enough to add at port though.

Park assist and HW are definitely a factory option, not port.
