I heard the original color of texalium is what we see on the black CF. not sure though.

Not a big deal, enjoy your silver CF.

It could also be carbon kevlar. We have a shop here that sells by the yard or so and it comes in many colors. Oh btw the carbon kevlar they sell is not your "peel and stick on" type. Its the ones there you have to lay in your mold and do your normal carbon fiber resin/vacuum procedure.

Very rarely are the typical CF parts going to save you much weight. Most of the CF out there, hoods, trunks, and so on are wet CF. So it's pretty much CF layed over a fiberglass skeleton or frame. Just making the part out of fiberglass would result in the same weight for much less cost. So for most of the guys buying CF hoods and trunks, there isn't much bang for the buck. Plus saving maybe 20lbs on a 3600lb car for $1K is laughable. If people really cared about saving weight, they'd just take out the spare or something, more weight reduction at no cost.

Having said all that, CF hoods and parts do look pretty cool and I had all that stuff on my previous cars.
