I find it interesting and entertaining how one's luck goes when encountering law enforcement. Or how sometimes it seems we might stand out from the crowd with our "fancy-shmancy Lexi." Sometimes we are just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Other times, we are aware of our surroundings and abiding. And other times, we are not.
Today I was coming home from work and a cop was staked out in someone's driveway looking for trouble. I was in a cluster of cars, going exactly 40, which is the speed limit. He looked at me, I looked at him, I kept going. He pulls out fast, comes up behind the car behind me, then races around to the side of my car and slows down to my speed. Looks inside my open window, speeds up to the front of my car, then slows down and looks back at the front end. I am assuming at this point he has found nothing and now looking for a front plate. Front plate on? Check. So he races off to another project. Afterwards, I thought to myself how my legal tint, being aware of the speed limit, and having a plate on just paid off nicely. I mean I was starving for lunch, so any delay would have just been real ugly.
Carry on.

Not really the case. I haven't been pulled over for 7 years, but I haven't exceeded 130mph in that period either. Cops are spread pretty thin out here.

i got pulled over for a carpool violation in washington around federal way on i5. cop walked up to my window and asked "how are you doing today?" and i responded "well, im not exactly in the best situation" so he asked "what makes you say that?" and i said "look where i am". he kinda chuckled and told me why i was pulled over. i handed over my DL, registration, and insurance, and before he walked away i told him i only took the lane because my brothers tire blew-out and im in a hurry to help him (it wasnt the truth...).
he told me "well, sorry, son, but everyone has a reason to be on the road". right away i thought great...time to get a ticket. after about 5 minutes he came back and reminded me when i can and cannot take the carpool lane, and told me he'd let me off with a warning. i was so surprised but to humor the situation, i called out to the officer and he asked what i needed.
i told him i wasnt actually a single occupant and that my passenger was in the backseat. on top of the rear center console was my f-sport teddy bear and i said "see? dual occupancy". i smiled while he looked at me and all he said was "oh...my....have a good day, son, drive safe" and walked away

Fronts are medium and that's where I get a little nervous. As I understand it, the CA law is, "as long as they can see in (the person)." Thing though is I was driving with all windows down. Thus the search for some other infraction.

I conquer. I remember a decade or two in the past where they were all over the place. Now it's rare to ever see one. Unfortunately, I live next to a college campus, so they swarm in to protect the peds after classes get out.

Unless Ca. has changed the law since I lived there 8 yeas ago, it is illegal to have tint on the front door glass, no matter how light it is.
