The IS doesnt have bi-xenon lights. Its just a common mistake people say. I have xenons and the highbeam is a seperate bulb. Its normal for the IS.

It says on somewhere that we do have bi-xenon, I think on the website or even the manual. I read this once before and was like WTF, no we don't LOL

Bixenon means that the high beam is incorporated mechanically into the projector. When the high beams are triggered, a solenoid moves a shield out of the way, letting more light through the projector itself. It's not a separate bulb.

iSuxeL, is right, the site does say it.

http://www.lexus.com/models/IS/featu...headlamps.html

I answered in the other thread, but our DRLs switch from low to high power, and aim the light over a greater distance.

The IS250/350 IS a bixenon projector, as far as I know.
It's weird though since it doesn't really resemble a bixenon. but *shrug
Someone with stock hids should do a test. Cover up the highbeam area with a black cloth and turn on highbeams to see if the lowbeam will open up as per its reported bixenon capabilities.
I too would like to know the answer to this question...

Stock HIDs should have bi-xenon. When we use the high beam function, the highs come on and the light of the projector points up higher. You can see it when pointed at the wall or something.

I just tested and this is true. I also used a parked car to see my reflection, and the light output from the HID is also increased, obviously coming from the bi-xenon feature since we're always at full power using an HID.

It's kinda bright outside but can sorta still see where the cutoff is.

No highs just low.

With highs. As you can see the cutoff is pointed up higher. It'll be higher up when the car is further away of course

Good observation, it just never occurred to me that we really DO have bi-xenons. I was expecting a typical BMW or Merc setup.

ok, all i think that happens to our lows when we hit full power is that it removes the projecter limiter and lets the lowe beam hit higher. I have led drls and was tripping out when i was messing with the high beams cuz it "SEEMED" like it got brighter when i hit the high beam still. But after messing around for about 5 min in a parking garage I noticed it just makes the low beam cutoff a lot higher up.

But check this out. I've changed all my bulbs to a 2500k-3000k range and when I turn on my highs it gets yellow along with my lows. So how is it we have bi-xenon if my yellow bulb turns on?

ok, when we hit the high beam switch this is what im pretty sure happens.

1- fogs turn off
2- removes projector limiter on low beams
3- high beam bulb goes to 100% (so technically we have bi-halogen?)
