Default How to remove fuel door lid?

Is it possible to remove fuel door lid (I need it to match the color for painting job) from the car without drilling the rivets? Could not find that info in workshop manual.

Why not pop one of those square covers where the toe hook goes?

He's talking about the little square on your bumpers. You pop those out to put the tow hooks.

The problem is that light colour metallic paint little differs on plastic and metal parts of the car, in other words the paint matched by those plastic parts did not match (in some light conditions) the metal parts colour.

On the rear bumper you'll have two square looking covers. Front, you'll have one on the right of the bumper. Just use a flathead screwdriver with tape over the head so it won't scratch.

I'm in the same boat. My painter said the tow hook cover might be too small a surface to match up the paint.

Seems like you can move the door downward.

If you look at the picture above the hinge is only connected to the door on the bottom side where it says 5k. The top side is left open and the bar(hinge) doesn't go back into the gas lid.

I don't need to take it off..It's a suggestion. I don't even know if i'm right or wrong, but it seems like you need to push downward.

Old thread bump. My painter wants me to do the same. Only way to remove it is to "drill the rivets"?

Thanks for any help. Guess I'll take the bumper hole covers if all else fails.
