What grade of motor oil should I use and change interval?

hmm, i have similar issue. except i drive on the weekends mostly, during the week i hardly touch the car due to the fact that i use public transit to commute to work

5w30 and 5w20 isn't much of a big difference. Especially in California you shouldn't have to worry about it.
Lighter oil weight = less friction
Therefore, the switch from 5w30 to 5w20 is for better gas mileage which gives you about only a extra 0.5-1 MPG per tank.

Physically looking at any newer IS? It's printed on the oil cap.
Reading the TSIB would work too, since it explicitly mentions it applies to 06s, was issued before 07s came out, and was never updated to include the newer years.
You also can see Joe Z and Lance discussing it in the quotes here:

Joe corrects him on the fact that the TSIB is only for 06s, Lance looked into it a bit further and ends up confirming this fact.

I called lexus of longo and cerritos here in cali and all the service guys tell me they are using 5w30..ive been using 5w20.. for about 2 years ill might change back to 5w30.
