New MPG standards

My answer to the question is simple. Technology will get us there, it always has, and always will. I mean, who would have dreamed that we would have 500+ HP Corvettes running around that get 25MPG. It was unheard of 20 years ago. Manufacturers have figured out a way to massively increase HP and weight without affecting economy. They need to reverse this logic, and when they do, you'll begin to see, that 35mpg is nothing. They'll be forced into it, but technology will lead the way.

I see a future, albeit way beyond 2016, where all cars will be electric. They will go at least 400 miles between charges and be recharged at local at local “plug-in” stations in the same time it now takes to fill up a tank. And, of course, the power source for recharging will be from wind or nuclear power plants. Then OPEC and big oil will no longer have a hold or our economy and we can tell them to go pound sand.
Of course, the mods that future CL members can select from will change. No more need for air intakes, turbos, or shifting kits. Mods will be for motor enhancements, light shows and fake exhaust notes.
Tint options will change too. All glass will be electrically charged, and on command the driver will select a percentage to dim. That will be great when you see a cop; just flip a switch and your 5% disappears!
Alas, it’s shame I won’t be around to see it.
