Who can measure the voltage on the clock assembly? (edited: Do you have CLOCK DIMMER)
Preamble: I've retrofitted OEM monitor/navi to the non-navi car, but one wire left not connected... With the help of our club members we clarified that this wire stands for the clock illumination (other words dimming in low light conditions).
Amble: Now I need to know the voltage on that wire (brown wire on the 1st pin of the clock assembly connector), when the headlights are on\off and when the light sensor is closed (low light conditions).
P.S. No, you dont need to remove nav unit to measure the voltage, just remove clock assembly (as you do when you want to change the navi dvd disk), and measure the voltage on the brown wire with voltmeter...

How would you mess up your wiring if you know nothing about the car?

I don't think the question "does your clock have a dimmer" is the correct question to ask. You should take a picture of the wire that is left disconnected but the guy above answered your question. It does not dim manually, but only when you turn your headlights on.
Congrats on the retrofit.

It dims after headlights on despite of the light conditions (light sensor)?
Can somebody measure the voltage on the brown wire of the clock assembly when the headlight is on and off?

My clock not dims. The strange thing is that in the NAVI edition there seems to be two separate wires for dimming, one for the emergency button dimmer, and one for the clock. In NON-NAV edition, there one common wire for that...

NO--it dims when the IP and nav dim. But, if you twist the dimmer **** to turn the IP lights down all the way, I think the clock stays lit, but at a lower intensity than during the day.

Well, now we know that this brown wire is definitely stands for the illumination of the clock. The one small detail left undisclosed - the voltage on this wire...
