Am I able to transfer the music from my ipod to the car speakers by just using
an ipod aux cable which I can buy from best buy?

Yes, a cheap ipod cable (3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo plug) will work fine, but for the best sound quality, get a cable that connects the 3.5mm to the dock connector on the ipod.

You didn't mention what kind of cable you bought. Hopefully it was a 3.5mm to dock cable, like the SIK that hapaboy mentioned. The 3.5 to 3.5 cables work, but the 3.5 to dock cables bypass the headphone amplifier in the ipod and sound noticeably better.

If you search eBay for:

Car Stereo iPod Dock Connector to Aux 3.5mm Audio Cable

you'll find numerous inexpensive dock cables.

yes the one i bought is 3.5mm to dock cable, it goes to the ipod dock connector on the ipod.

I use the aux port for my "hands free" phone input....

i use the Griffin AutoPilot. Fits perfectly in center console. I wanted something that charged, used the dock connector for output, and was easy to hide.
