Default paint problem

Hey whats up CL members just a quick question. Has anybody had any paint issues have pieces color matched? I had the paint shop my lexus dealer recommended to paint my front gfx, rear wing and a next piece but the color came out off. They took the paint code and everything but it still is off. They will repaint the pieces but just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem. BTW my paint color is crystal white paint code 062.

Yes, it is a common problem for the white paint on the IS. It is a 3 step process. The body shop might be using only 2 step process.

It really is hard to match our OEM paint jobs. Because if you look at your aftermarket paint job(im guessing) It has more pearls then your original paint right?

Like it has more speckles of pearls/flakes. Post up photos so we can see it

But im having the same problem as you. They repainted it two times and i basically gave up, my paint is still darker and is extremely noticeable when the car is in shade. Im considering going back to the shop and asking if they can paint it again, or going to a better shop and paying more money to get a better match. In my case, i think its to dark of a paint, and to much pearls were used..

Its very frustrating that you know the paint doesnt match 100%

I think white is really hard to match. It doesnt seem to have to much pearl it jus seems darker and really if anything it has less pearl. It def is frustrating and I cant believe this is where my local lexus dealer recommends aswell as sends their cars to. I will try get some pics up soon. The back pieces which is the trunk spoiler and a rear roof spoiler doesnt look as bad but still when u pay you want it as good as possible. I guess I will be back to the body shop soon...

You don't have a light color. Lighter color are way harder to match compared to darker.

I've sworn off light colors for my next car To hard to paint match, you dont hear these type of problems with SGM or obsidian, because dark colors just blends in together haha.

Im probably going to have the body shop try to repaint again, I want a closer match. I wonder how these shops match paint though, Because when i questioned them they said the paint code is a small factor and they cant mix to those specs because there are so many variety of shades of the color.

LOL I said the same thing 2 cars ago and here I am again with another white car. But yeah you dont hear those stories with dark colors as much. The body shop I went to said when I bring it back that they could take one of those little square covers off the back bumper and color match it to that or get it close as they can. I will probably just take my stock front lip and they can use that. Hopefully they can work it out. Its gonna suck removing the 2 rear pieces since its all held on with industrial 3m. Good luck with yours if you have it redone and ask if they can color match better if u leave a stock painted part.
