for those who removed their spare, what did you put underneeth, so the cover dosent bow?

Why would you remove it in the first place? Do you have plans on doing an air setup or something? I would suggest to go measure the area and get a piece of ply wood.

gas in hawaii is close to 3.30, so every effort to make the car lighter, is a way to save money.
