The check VSC light comes on because the VSC system is automatically disabled whenever the check engine light comes on. IT DOES NOT MEAN THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM.
There are many conditions that trigger the check engine light. Many of those reasons, from a loose gas cap to a flakey oxygen sensor may increase the amount of pollution the vehicle is emitting, but not effect the safety or driveability of the vehicle.

I just had this happen to me on the way to work today. I tightened the gas cap and will be waiting to see if it goes away. I will probably also be going to autozone to see what the codes are. Hopefully this is the problem since my warranty just ended.

happened to me when i took my air filter out to install my HIDs - i turned on the car to test the bulbs and i got the VSC check engine... after i plugged it back in and drove it for a bit it went away...
best idea is to go to the dealer if it isn't the gas tank or this option. if you arent under warrantee it'll cost you a bit, or find someone with a computer to reset it

it happened to me after it snowed. my car was parked on the driveway and when i turned it on my car shook. then the vsc light came on. i called the dealership and the girl told me to check the gas cap and it'll go away on its own in a few days, otherwise i'd have to wait a week for an open appointment.
then i called my friend who works inside, he told me he'd get me in as soon as i came..so i thought it was bad.apparently it isn't?
