VSC + CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 24k CAR.
Hey guys I dont know if this is where I should have posted this but I need some help. I had my car garged over the night and when I went to take it out this morning the VSC and CHECK ENGING light came on. I read the manual on how to turn off VSC but that isnt making the light turn off. Is this something I can turn off or do I need to take it to the dealer? Also, is it possible to drive the car with the warning lights on? The car is an 08 with 24k on it. I dont think it should have any problems so soon
Any help would be great. Thanks.

Check to make sure your gas cap is on tight. Having it loose is one of the most frequent causes of a check engine light. If that isn't it, bring it to the dealer so they can read the diagnostic trouble code(s).
Don't worry about the check VSC light -- it's on because the car automatically turns off VSC whenever the check engine light is on.

I just went and checked it. I tightened the cap and turned on the car, lights are still lit up. Should it have turned off right away if that was the case?

Scared? I don't know if the car is safe to drive with those lights on and it is my only form of transportation and the service dept won't be open til monday. Which is why I needed some input.

If the light is on steady and the car drives alright, I wouldn't be too concerned about driving it. The thing you have to be concerned about is a flashing check engine light. I wouldn't drive it if the light starts flashing.

It can be one of many things, that's just a way to inform you that there's been some kind of malfunction, or sensor go off that needs attention.
