Its fairly simple to remove the trims. I did mines a few weeks ago and it took like 2 hours. I kind of half-assed it towards the end for the door pieces because it was gettin dark but it looked pretty good. Door pieces wont take you that long, its the shift panel thats a pain lol. Just take your time.

I just did this using the VCarbon fiber and worked pretty well. They only bad part is that the adhesive on the back is not very sticky and when putting the shift gate chrome back on it cause the pieces to slide up slightly and leave a small ridge around the side.
Other than that it looks good other than the fact I didnt snap the ashtry lid on all the way and it sat out of line with the other pieces. Too lazy right now to fix it but will eventually

i'm performing a kit on the silver... 80% of the time it is about installation technique. you can purchase 3M 94 Primer to help with peeling. vCarbon's been installed on spoilers, roofs, etc and had no problems with peeling..
one of the other CL members has a cougar.. and he's planning to wrap it with vCarbon..
this has been sitting outside in the sun and rain for the past 4 months... and has not even peeled or lifted.
again.. a lot of it goes to prep and installation.. i'll post of pix of a center console install later..
