Took to the shop, they found absolutely nothing wrong with it, i'm praying that it doesn't cut out during my inspection.

go to your local dealer, they can check it out... mines does it very often from time to time, being that I live in FL and it rains alot.. moisture tends to get in their sometimes even though the headlight looks dry, the connector may be moist...

they can fix it for you WARRANTY!

No warranty

However i was told to say to the inspector on friday that it's just an option where the headlights only turn on at night, but i don't know if he will bite. I just want to finally register the car and be able to drive it anywhere and finally start buying more mods.

Why don't you put the factory H11 bulbs in there... pass the inspection and then worry about it later?

Will factory halogen bulbs fit into a socket that the HID bulb fits into?

Well, if you have aftermarket H11 HID Kit, yes a H11 Halogen bulb will fit into the housings. That's how it originally came from Lexus.

If you have factory original HID system, then bring it back to the dealer with the original D4S bulbs.

I see. You should re-install your factory bulbs and see how it is.....

But like i mention previously, the rear covers are very tricky. Make sure it is seated correctly otherwise you will have moisture problems.

Aftermarket bulbs are notorious for being crappy quality. Go back to an OEM bulb in a usable temperature and ditch that 8000K crap. You've lost ~35% of usable light over stock by using those pweddy liddle bwue lights.

Well, i bought the vehicle with a damaged front end, bought the headlights off a member here on this forum, bought the bulbs separately. Does lexus offer any other D4S bulbs that burn above 4300k or whatever the temp is?

This is my first project car, wanted to go with a nice blue color, i really enjoy seeing blue or purple HID's, but if this is going to keep getting in the way i'm going to purchase the stock bulbs.

Thank you everyone for you input, everytime i have a problem, you guys give the best advice.

Well I'm currently at the ohio highway patrol about to get my salvage inspection. Went to the dealership this morning to have them look at it and the weirdest thing happened, they pulled out my AFS sensor and the headlight lit right up, I guess the headlight wasn't positioning itself correctly and the bulb was firing. Everything works now, soim keeping my fingers crossed that it won't happen again

4100/4300K is an OEM color temp for a reason - it gives the best output. That being said, I have 5000K bulbs from McCulloch on my car, because it came with a kit already installed. The bowl/lense design on the stock Lexus projector is absolute rubbish compared to my FX35's I have in my Supra. When the bulbs go out I'll probably revert back to a 4300/4100K temp if I can find a bulb in that color.

For me, when functionality is required, I'm going to go for the best option, i.e. the most effective option. I have Phillips 85122+'s (D2S) in my Supra headlights, but for "DRL's" I have a 10,000K kit in the fogs that I run during the day. They don't output for crap at night.

Enjoying seeing blue or purple HID's... I guess that's cool, but when it comes to lighting up the road at night... you know... for safety and stuff, blue and purple are terrible at casting usable light onto black pavement.
