Default 60K Service got quoted $1200

Way too expensive, nearly $800 in labor for a bunch of inspections that they would do for my oil changes anyway. What about going to a Toyota dealer. Any suggestions, in Portland, Oregon.

Why don't you call and get a quote on the things you actually need, rather than asking for the "X miles" service where as you note they'll jack it up with inspections they'd do for free anyway.

For 60k that should be plugs, brake fluid, and oil change... and the air filters you can do yourself.

You could also try to find an independent place to have the work done.

If they manage to sell you the entire package it's ~$800 IIRC...

I was quoted about $1000 for this service. I had them throw in a free alignment. I went ahead and had them do the service so if anything went wrong at least it's covered by Lexus since they did the work and not me. I know I could have done some or most of it myself but I really just didn't feel like it.

Drop it off, get a loaner and a $20 gift card to the mall, plus I don't break a sweat. I might have broke the bank a little but it's a Lexus.

Again, never ask for the "X miles" service... that's dealer code for "triple this suckers bill"

At 30k you get a quote on:

Oil change and brake fluid change, and that's it.

You can change the air and cabin filters yourself in about 5 minutes.

They''ll do the exact same work as a "30k service" but for massively lower cost.

Yes I agree, I'll make my list of 30K items that I want done (per maintenance/manual). I'll even let them do the air and cabin filters because those 2 items aren't really the problem getting to the $800 price.

I assume you went to Lexus of Portland. We are a one horse town when in comes to Lexus dealers so they have us by the short-curlies.

I just did mine. I changed the engine air and cabin air filters myself. Piece of cake. I had the dealer do the oil change ($60) and brake fluid change ($100). The dealer also aligned the rear wheels (along with a free front alignment that was part of a recall) for $40 (prob a rip). So, for me, total cost was about $250 including the filters that I installed.

I thought that our spark plugs don't need to be changed until 100k?

You thought wrong then

Required maint for a 2IS auto, by the book-

Every 5k: oil change
Every 15k: Air/Cabin filter changes
Every 30: Brake fluid change
Every 60k: Spark plug change
Every 100k: Coolant change

That's about it.
