I have never been that impressed with the ventilated seats, but have noticed they seem to work better with the AC on.

I took it to the dealer and had them check it, and they told me it was "functioning as designed" on the sheet I got back from them.

I too notice the fan noise, a little annoying, but most of the time I have the stereo on anyway. The cooling is definitely better on the Lincoln MKZ, but I would take my IS over a Lincoln any day of the week!
that "fan noise" you hear is the vented seat. They are not "cooled" seats, only "vented"--a fan blows air through the holes. If you set the a/c so that the air is blowing at your feet, you will get better results with the vented seats, because the fan will catch the cool air flowing under the seats.

I think Mercedes vented seats actually suck the air instead of blowing it.

It's really a worthless option on our cars. If Lexus stepped up and ran ducts from the A/C to the seats like Infiniti that would be heaven. Esp for us in Florida.

To be fair to Lexus, they offered vented seats since the 06 model in the IS.

Infiniti offered cooled seats in the much more expensive M back then, not so much in the comparable-to-the-IS G.

The lack of any seat venting/cooling at all is one of the (several) reasons I didn't end up with a G.

To be honest, I rarely use the seat coolers.

I've always thought that the cooled seats made it feel like I was wetting my pants Sometimes when my girlfriend falls asleep on a long drive, I crank up the cooler on her side and she wakes up thinking she had an accident

Have you ever sat in a car with non-perforated leather for 3 hours or more? I promise you that the ventilated seats make a HUGE difference for long trips.

Yes I have sat in a car for over 3 hours with non-perforated leather seats and it's been no problem for me, but the humidity in California is relatively low.
