Default A few random thoughts

  • I've successfully ridded myself of the dreaded "cold-start grinding noise" by................... switching back to 5W-30. Whoever authored Lexus TSIB EG006-06 has caused a lot of IS owners a lot of grief. While preparing to do my routine oil and filter change, I decided I would switch back to 5W-30 after running 5W-20 since early 2006. Problem solved. Ever since I switched back to 5W-30, I have heard ZERO noises at startup, except for the familar sound of my 2GR-FSE waking up. I'm very happy now.
  • The more I drive on my JIC's, the more I like them. Normal street driving, aggressive canyon runs, it doesn't matter. I couldn't be happier with the all-around compromise of ride comfort and sporty firmness. Especially after having an IS-F for a week recently - I had forgotten just how jumpy and stiff the IS-F suspension is.
  • Navigation updates are awesome. Running the Lexus 8.1 update, I haven't had to "help out" my nav with my iPhone yet.
  • I'm glad I lived during Michael Jackson's prime and got to witness his greatness. Been bumping MJ in the car since Thursday evening, and it still hasn't gotten old.
That is all. Have a great week everyone!

I too have the 06...and have always used 5w30 syn oil. No familiar griding noises. Guess I'm lucky. A lot of famous people just pasted away..Michael,Farrah, and now Billy Mays...the oxy clean guy..wow he was only 50 also...the new mortality age???

I can set them to be. I have them pretty much in the middle between hard and soft.

LOL, I guess I should consider myself lucky then.

There's this TSIB, (which I had done) which has been which has been superceded by the latest LSB L-SB-0156-08 to include model year 2008 as well. I can't find a link to that one.

No, it's not the stock Lexus nav, but it's the same software. Eclipse provided the software for the Lexus navi's, so I can run the OEM Lexus discs.

JIC's are good and semi-stiff, but not stiff enough, for me at least
