Default how to black out rear bumper lights?

firstly i'm taking this picture off of tonyswank's post on the smoky granite mica thread so i'd like to thank him.

i was wondering how this was done. I have a can of spray for the job but...

do i have to remove the light cover and then paint it? and if so - how is this done? If not, should i just put some painters tape around the bumper and then spray it on?

I'm thinking 4-5 coats to get it that dark...

thanks guys!

To remove the reflector you'll need to take off the bumper and unscrew them from behind.

There's also the vinyl option where you can put it over the reflector. check aerotect.net for vinyl.

Aerotect vinyl is the easiest option.

Aerotect's stuff doesn't look nearly as dark. Does anyone provide a dark vinyl?

agreed it's only a 17% tint...

i would double stack it but then it is $19/set and just to black out reflectors that is a bit pricy

has anyone gone the option of just painters tape on the bumper and using a spray?

Is the price per set, or per overlay?

Never mind, it must be per set - otherwise you would need to know left or right.

Also to Aerotect, you might want to edit your link as it contains a CustomerSID. Hopefully Htown didn't buy his using that link, lol - it will be on some other guy's account.

Ah, very nice. I've been looking to replace my existing reflector vinyls anyway.

Thanks for the heads up. Should be fine, I think it just showed my id...unless you're reffering to the product ID not sure why, but he would have been prompted to login at checkout.

We'll see if I get a set of Blackout Reflector Overlays delivered to my house, lol!

Yes, the product comes as a set.
