Wow how long has this been out?

I like the headlamps and... nothing else. Seriously, that steering wheel, the extraneous strip of trim above the glove box.. it just screams lazy. Not sure about the front bumper.

What do you mean by "how long has this been out?"

I agree...the steering wheel and the dash strip is pointless and ugly.

I just noticed something in the pic of the interior....the trim is the sport pkg trim....so that faux brushed aluminum. Im curious if in the standard package if it would be the wood. Either way...not sure it is warranted anyways.

I seriously hope the next gen comes with a stick on the top spec model. I get that most people enjoy the autobox, but if Lexus is seriously trying to attract a younger market, they had better start responding to "what dem kids is wantin out dere".

Guys & Gals...

Keep in mind the 1st Gen IS300 had a total 7 year run..
1999 to 2005

5 years as a Lexus IS300 (2001 to 2005)
&
7 years under the Toyota Altezza Platform in Japan where it all began (1999 to 2005)

Regards,

Joe Z

It was documented to be too long then and it's too long now. This is not good business in the auto industry. Other manufacturers get the chance to rise ahead and gain market share.

Yeah...it's not good business and they're losing market share... that must explain why they're still #1.

#1 title is good, but there is still room for improvement. In a business sense, one has to think how much MORE they could be selling with a innovative, fresh product that builds off the success of the current IS.

I believe there are doers, followers, and those who rest on their laurels. I'd say Lexus has been in a good position with the IS, but is taking a large gamble by not updating faster. Bare in mind there is a new 3-series and G right around the corner.

Lexus in danger of losing US luxury crown to Mercedes

Markus Sagemann of BMW, points out the freshness of the BMW lineup, as the company will have replaced 60% of its models by 2012.

I expect IS3 by 2012, so that Lexus can keep up with BMW and Mercedes

I concur. If there isn't a new IS model by the time my lease is up at the end of 2011, I'm strongly considering a Benz the next time around.

I wish Lexus wasn't so tight-lipped about this stuff. It would definitely help my decision making process, especially if I'm leaning towards the Lexus brand again.

Default spotted awd IS350!?!?

I spotted something interesting this afternoon. It looked like a regular IS250 AWD MY 2010. Walking by it I took a double take, it had gold emblems and they read AWD IS350!!!

I couldnt believe it so I walked up to the front and peeked at the brakes, but of course they were the IS250 brakes. Major fail! I didn't take a pic since it was in the church parking lot.

With the new refresh for the 2011's ... the 3rd Gen IS will more than likely will be a MY 2013..
Should be released around the Fall of 2012.

History sort of repeats itself with Lexus.....

The car was parked very close to the church and there were a lot of people around...
