if thats the facelift then no 3IS for me...id end up holding out hoping the 4IS has more to offer and just mod out the 2IS.

Ooopps, lol, selective reading... Really wanted inline 6s to come back and thought I read inline. Yeah I know flat and inline are different.

Regardless, a flat six still has the silky smoothness I enjoy from an engine.

If they base that off the Toyota FT-86 then it makes sense. The Toyota FT-86 was co-designed by Subaru and if I remember correctly Subaru came up with the engine design.

The picture looks like a 4 door version of a Toyota FT-86.

Also if that sketch was genuine, it would have a Lexus badge on it. Toyota has been using the Lexus brand globally (including Japan). No Lexus vehicles wear Toyota badges anywhere.

Clearly not a Lexus IS depiction. Possibly a 4 door Toyota sedan.

Yeah that looks photoshopped, the IS wouldn't have a toyota logo.

The first 2nd gen IS came out in 2005 as 2006MY..
So we have 2006MY, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and soon 2012MY..
Shouldn't the next IS be coming out in summer 2012 as 2013MY??

Spoke with Lexus yesterday about several things and brought up the new IS. He said at the soonest a new body style would be 2013, however, considering the changes they have made to the newer models over the older ones, and with all the issues with Japan right now, it might not be until 2014 or 2015. The car is still selling so well and people are consistently trading in their leases for new ISs, that the market isn't demanding a new IS. Until they see a need to revamp the design it might be awhile. Their focus in the meantime is just catching up on the backed up production of cars considering they have several plants in Japan that are still shut down.

Sorry for the not so great news guys. The good part is we love our cars and they are still some of the best looking cars on the road. Gives us all time to save more money for when the new one actually does come out!

Most of this is simply not true. Car redesigns are determined years before they actually occur. For one thing, suppliers need advance notice to develop and produce parts in time for the redesign, which could take years. Car makers don't wait until they see a need for a revamp. They have extensive market forecasting in which they decide redesigns well ahead of time. It's called long-range strategic planning. The fact a car is selling well does not affect a redesign either. Look at the RX, it always sells well. By this logic the RX would never get redesigned. And the issues in Japan are short term, again nothing that would affect a redesign.

The introduction of the redesigned IS is already set, we just don't know what is. But I've heard fall 2012.

I just repeated what Lexus Corp and the dealership manager I talked to both said. I could care less when it is redesigned. They have already done several small redesigns on it and it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't totally revamp the car for a few more years.

Oh now we understand the source of this info, a dealership manager. Sounds like a sales manager.

Since you apparently don't read ALL of a post, I thought I'd help you out And just in case you didn't get it, Corp is short for CORPORATE.

I speculate that all future engines will utilize direct injection and increase power output by 15%

Thank you, no reading glasses required, you are so kind. And I read "Lexus Corp" earlier, (so the super-sizing was not needed) like that meant anything.

So you spoke to some drone/clerk/clock-watcher at Lexus Corp ("Corp is short for CORPORATE") that's fantastic, and no wonder you didn't get anything useful.
