yeah my dealer also mentioned the new ES coming around the August time frame. There's a thread in car chat that also mentions that, as well as the 3IS debuting in early 2013. So it sounds like the 3IS might be on a similar release schedule as the 4GS and not the traditional Fall release.

 

If this is the case, then it sounds like the 3IS will have a short run cycle for 2013, If they mirror the GS, Then customers could take delivery of 3IS in Feb 2013 as a 2013 model and possibly when the Fall 2013 Sept Oct comes it will change over to 2014 3IS model.

Once this new model comes out the price on the 2IS will drop, if the new model is awesome then im going to pull the trigger on the 2014 ISF in 2015....well thats the plan at least.

 

it might be the other way around. In that thread in car chat, it was mentioned that the current IS would hold over to MY 2013. And then the 3IS would debut in early 2013 as a 2014 model, kinda like how the 4GS is a 2013 model. I'm not sure though whether it meant the 3IS will start delivery in early 2013, or that it'll debut in early '13 and start delivery later in the year. Regardless, it sounds like 2014 will be the first MY for 3IS.

 

I would not pay attention to what a dealer tells you.

 

Disappointing since this model began in 06', thats a really really long cycle without a major makeover.

 

The 3rd gen IS will be a december/january release. Maybe you guys haven't noticed but thats becoming a trend for Toyota Corporation. The 2012 Camry was also released late. Expect the same for the 3IS like we also saw with the 4GS.

Do you think the chief designer of the 3rd Gen IS will be the same person who designed the 2nd Gen?

 

I REALLY don't like the direction the front of the new Lexus line up is going...our cars right now have a sweet aggressive angle in the front...the new design seems to follow that line until the grill...the branch out in the opposite direction...they should have just elaborated on what was working...

 

It is very possible...


The answer will be YES for the next Gen IS-F...
