Dealer lied about headlights.
I just bought a 2006 IS350 Certified from a Lexus dealer in south Florida, two weeks ago. It was a sunny day and hot as hell. I took the salesmans word on the headlights being HID and auto adjusting. They are not!! Any advice?? Should I go back and complain? Or what?

Salesman will say anything..esp. the ones at the CPO lots. I bet he promised you some free services too and free car wash anytime. I don't even know if they can do anything about it, after all you signed for the car..

FYI you can easily tell if a 2IS has factory HIDs without even turning the headlights on by checking for the AFS option cycling through them with the dashboard switch

But does it come with auto adjusting headlight. For instance, when you drive on a mountain in a dark road. The headlight will turn accordingly to your steering wheel.

When i first bought my car the sales person said that it has the HIDs and AFS and so i also took his word but then i read more on the car and saw that it said nothing about having HIDs and so i told him and he was like you really dont need HIDs and blah blah blah so then i really care at the time but now i regret not having the AFS. Its just cool... lol

As to the free service, other than a brake fluid change at 30k there's nothing to do but oil changes through 55k (and a couple air/cabin filter changes you can do yourself in 5 minutes)... versus HID/AFS which is an $875 option.
(60k is a slightly more major service since it's the same 30k stuff plus spark plugs, and that's why they were cheap and didn't include it)

You should definitely complain, and take it up the ladder. But the learning experience proves NEVER rely on the salesman's word. There must have been a spec sheet for the car--always check it.

Car sales people are consistently the poorest source of info.
Maybe the salesperson made the mistake accidentally about the headlights since the feature is common on most IS350's around here. Mistake or lie, the dealer needs to correct the problem (either upgrade or cash back).
