It will definitely rub on hard turns with 225/40/19. I know because that's what I am running. It will matter on the offset of your rims too. I am running +33 on an 8" wide rim. Go for a different brand, or get 215/35/19.

maybe raising your car up will alleviate that problem?

btw, you should be running 225/35-19's up front.

AWD=235/35/19 and 275/30/19 = the best...
since it's rubbing, so i was thinking 225/35/19 and 265/30/19, but nitto invo doesn't have this size...

FYI: You're going to interfere with the handling, performance and wear on the tires with a staggered setup for an AWD. AWD needs to have the same sized tires and wheels in order to perform properly else you will have trouble down the line.

not that i'm an expert on this, and not that i know how the AWD system works for the 2is, but i would think that all he needs to do is maintain the same rolling diameter in the front and rear. a quick search will also show that a few other AWD 2is owners are running staggered setups as well.

also, aren't the oem 18's on the AWD 2is staggered?

love67> you can find ps2's for cheap if you look around. i bought a pair of 255/35-19's for $450 shipped in may.

i really dont know where this talk of damage comes from, can someone please explain it to me in specificlly to a is250 awd system in technical terms and not laymans terms. For years now ive found this talk of 'damage' baffling, damage to what exactly? having different size tires on a awd in snow will of course affect traction but actually damage to what? the transfercase? the trans? the diff's??? with modern awd's with variable traction sending torque to various wheels due to slippage causes no damage... and so what if you get more traction in the rear than the front in winter, how will that 'damage' anything?

this is what im doing, 235/35/19 and 275/30/19 is the closest diameter we can get and which im using right now, but it rubs to me...so i wanna use 225s...
as long as it keeps it closed enough, the system won't even know because the "check" only came on once when i put 17" in the front and 19" in the rear, haha.
also AWD doesn't come with 18", they only have 17" which is not staggered...
wow..i been to ebay and stuff...PS2 is like 300 per tires for 225s...can't even think of 265s tires...
