Default what is the difference between 55W and 35W HID fog?

Just wondering what the differences is between these two. I am planning to buy new HID and wondering if 55W is recommend for the IS. Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

Edit: did anyone try out the DDM HID kits? I know they are pretty popular on the BMW boards but not sure how reputable they are.

with 55w you get more light output, but it also produces more heat than the normal. from what i hear they end up melting your nice projectors... don't get them, stick with the 35w.

55watts for projectors = ok
55watts for fogs = melting pile of goo

i have the DDM kit on my SC and they are great (55watt)

gonna get some 35watt for my fogs on the IS soon

55w generates a higher intensity light source thus creating higher temp. Like everyone said above me try not to use 55w just stick with 35w. It isn't that big of a difference.

If you go with oem bulbs such as phillips or osram and pair it with a 55 watt ballast you should have no prob. Been proven that the temp is not that much more to do any damage. But if you run a kit bulb then yes it will melt your fog. I am running a 55 watt ballast with phillips bulbs in my projectors and the output is very noticeable. I actually cast shadows on every car I drive by, even ones with HID.
