You can set your mirrors to tilt down when backing-up. Leave the mirror selection button on either left or right setting instead of neutral. I find this helpful when parallel parking.

They're just OEM wheels. Don't kill yourself over it.

the tungsten pearl touch up paint matches my 2007 18" wheels perfectly. not sure if the newer cars have a darker silver color or not now.

You should be fine, and there should be plently of people locally that can fix your OEM wheel. Your local Lexus dealership can offer some recomendations as well.

The cost to repair the scratch would not be as expensive as fixing a polished aftermarket wheel. Good luck whatever you decide to do

Welcome to CL and welcome to the club of curbing your rims. I believe the majority of the members on this forum have curbed their stock rims one timeor another. So don't feel too bad. You get the initial "sick" feeling when it happens, but you learn to get over it. It happens.

Like everyone else has noted, it gives you a great excuse to get new "shoes" not like you needed an excuse in the first place.

Don't park so close to the curb next time. Good luck.

Welcome to the Lexus club

The whole 2 years I've had my car I parallel parked three times. Once in the middle of downtown and I took up the whole street of traffic to slowly inch back and forth into the space, get out and check, repeat.... so I don't curb my wheels.

Don't be ashamed cuz you wanna take care of your car!

After this thread I looked and my two rear rims both are scratched. I am not sure if its from the one car wash I have received or from the springs maybe? Any ideas?

I have about 400 miles on my car but maybe a good excuse to get those g-spiders

Yeah I am really leaning towards those but I leased my car. I can get the liquid ones for like 700 or something on sewell. Use the old rims as shooting practice LOL!

is that 700 each ? if so, i would rather get the 19 in f-sport wheels from sewell for 1500. Would look awesome on black.

WOW! I had no idea this would generate so much response! Thanks for all the warm welcomes and sympathetic messages. I'm so glad I bought a used car instead of a new one because honestly when this happens in a used one it doesn't hurt as much, since there are already plenty of other little nicks in the paint and other things from the previous owner.

In terms of the mirrors, mine do tilt down automatically in reverse (it's an optional feature found on the premium plus pkg I believe), although I actually scratched them when pulling forward. The street was really dark so I couldn't see the curb. What would be really awesome is if the lights on the mirrors that illuminate the ground when you get out of the car and when you unlock your car with the keyfob could somehow be turned on when you're parking. That would light up the curb and make it much easier to see at night, especially if you combined it with tilting the mirror down.

Meanwhile, I'm not going to worry too much about it, I just like to take good care of my vehicles. I am not usually one to change the factory rims, so I'll probably just live with it, imagine if I had scratched up a new set of custom rims?
