Default My first wheel scratch... Only 1 day into owning the IS350

I feel like a complete idiot, but I already scratched the factory 18 inch rims tonight parallel parking the car, scraped the front wheel against the curb! Are there some good touch up paint applicators for the wheels? Also, what are some good tips for avoiding scraping the curb? I'm used to driving an SUV where the tires would rub against, but never the wheels. Too bad these don't have "aroundview" monitors like some of the infiniti's do! LOL

This gives you an excuse to buy new wheels and then park further away from curbs...

Don't worry too much about it, but you have to learn how to park without "touch." Even with an SUV, you shouldn't be hitting the curb. Scraping the sidewall can puncture the tire or create a weak spot if it happens a certain way or hits a jagged edge.
Practice a few times and you'll pick it up fast. One thing about parking... you can never back up and go forward too many times.

You can move your side mirror down to see how close you are to the curb. That's what I do haha

Don't feel bad... It's gonna happen regardless of how careful you are.

I did this too when I first got the IS. But hasn't happenes since... I believe a large part of it is 'learning' a new car, its size/shape and manuvering it in parking situations. Once you get it down, it probably won't happen again.
