Default Blister on the sidewall of my tire

I'm still running the OEM Dunlaps with 28,000 miles on it. Tread on the sides of the tires are more worn than the middle of the tire, but now I have two blisters on the sidewall of one of my tires. Stealership wanted $250 for the one tire installed. What a rip.

I want to get the Eagle F1s, and I think I want to put the new tires on the car in the fall. My question is, how long can you survive with the blister. I've been running with it for probably close to two months now.

That "blister" is probably from the curb you hit.

Yeah there is no question about that.

I'm asking if there is any real danger driving with it, or if I should replace.

I'm also looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires. The Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S have been getting some poor reviews.

F1s are very noisy, you may want to look at BFG gForce Super Sports A/S. Handle very good, good in the snow, extremely quiet and a great bang-for-the-buck.

This bubble is caused by a impact break (hitting pothole etc.) that tears the inner liner of the tire allowing air to leak to the outer liner & sidewall. Every case is different so you never know how long the tire will hold air. In your picture you can see the bubble is deforming the tread which causes the tire to run hotter. Heat is the leading cause of death to tires. Speed increases heat in tires also. I would replace that tire ASAP.

Try the Dunlop Direzza SportZ1 Star Spec it won Car & Drivers AuG 09 test

I have found that depending on the sidewall construction each model tire reacts differently or is more prone to bubbling. My last set of tires (Avons) were prone to bubbles. I have the BFGs now and I have hit several pot holes (that would have caused bubbles on the Avons) and no problem at all. I've come to the conclusion that the sideway construction/design is VERY important!

I had a blister on the inside wall, one night in the snow and rain I noticed the smell of burnt rubber...long story short the tire let go. Fix your tire or wreck your car.

I was looking at those compared to the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. The Michelins are about $200 more for the set out the door installed.

You think the BFGs are about where those Michelins are?

The Michelins are the number 1 rated A/S but they are pricy. I have found (From past vehicles) that Michelins are over rated and not worth the extra cash. I'm extremely happy with the BFGs and I will be getting them again.

In the sizes I'm using there was a $250 difference.
