I've noticed that my AC alternates between blowing cold air for ~ 5minutes and hot air for ~ 5minutes...all this started after installation of my fsport intake... Anyone else ever experience this problem?

Sounds like the system (Compressor) is cycling on and off to maintain a set temp. When the vehicle is hot inside the system should keep blowing cold air until it reaches the set temp. If not, you should have the Stealer look at it.

It doesn't work that way. The compressor on the IS doesn't cycle on and off. It's a variable displacement design, that alters the piston stroke (by tilting a swash plate), allowing the AC controller to dynamically vary the capacity from near zero to 100%, to adjust for both heat load and engine loads.

Freaking brilliant compressor design. Wish I had it in my Supra!

If you are driving when it is humid outside with the air intake selector set to AUTO, you'll feel a noticeable change in perceived temperature when the system switches between outside and recirculated air. Humid air feels warmer than dry air at the same temperature.

My AC alternates between cold and hot air and it's not in AUTO mode...the temp outside will be ~105, I'll set the air to recirc, set the temp to LO, turn on the AC, and set the fan speed to medium....the air will be really cold in the beginning but then begin to become warm, and then go back to cold again...since this doesnt seem to be a common occurrence, I'll be taking it to the dealer this weekend...let's see what they say...

Silly question... do you have Dual mode on?
My buddy was messing around and cranked the heat on his side just before he got out. My side was on cool. On the ride home I had the same experience like it fighting itself... It was.

That's a good point...but nope, dual mode is off. I noticed this after installing my f-sport intake...do you guys think there could be a relation or just coincidence?

Just wanted to update the thread...I took it to the dealer and it turns out my refrigerant level was low! They recharged the system and now my AC works fine. The dealer said there wasn't a leak, but then why would the refrigerant be low?
