engine cover is just plastic and not connected to anything so no its not because of the cover

make sure you didn't hook any wires when removing/installing the cover

No, I have my engine cover off and no check VSC.

I do find it strange though, after re-fulling and pressing start button (to check how much gas i want in tank) the check VSC light will come on.

After driving fast check VSC will come on.

Then it goes away after a few days LOL!

Try doing some burn-outs, since VSC is now off

"Check VSC" doesn't mean VSC is off This light may come on because of a million of errors, including bad fuel, after towing, burnt fuse, MAF error, as well as more serious mechanical malfunctions.

Gotta read the error code with the service computer to find out why the light came on

I would check all wire connectors on the engine which you could have accidently pulled off when removing the cover, and then do the good ole trick of disconnecting the battery for a minute to reset the computer. The VSC light will go away but if comes back then something is still wrong and you'll have to read the error code with the service comp to know the reason of the error.

For now check wires and disconnect the battery for a bit
