Default Third Brake Light Options

Has anyone changed their third brake light? I would like something flatter and longer, maybe even mounted at the top of the rear window as opposed to the bottom.

Have you seen the jacked-up one on the IS-F on some pedestal or something, not especially attractive.

I thought I was the only one who noticed that. It looked particularly cheap, but maybe that was because there is no center rear headrest (?) blocking the view to it.

I don't like the IS-F one either. I think I might just have to take the stock one off and see how it is connected, that will give me a better idea of the options. I want to change it, but I want to make sure it looks clean too.

I'm guessing they raised it because of the standard rear lip spoiler on the IS-F, but it looks terrible propped up like that. My IS350 has the OEM rear spoiler, but fortunately they did not prop up the 3rd brake light.

One of the best looking 3rd brake lights is on the C300/C350 sedans. It's not even visible from the drivers seat, but looks sleek and thin from the back.

IMO, the stock IS250/IS350 3rd brake light is fine and is best left alone. Rear window tint helps too (35%).

You've tripped my curiousity. I'll have to investigate this one.

The C-Class is actually one of the deigns that I like. Now I just need to find a wrecked C300/350 and grab-up the taillight.

And the rear window, rear speakers, rear package shelf, etc., maybe the entire car too.

I just died a little on the inside. I thought this would have been interesting, but then again, I have also thought that slapping a small turbine engine on a scooter was interesting too. Lesson here: don't believe what the Drs say, some hair will never grow back- now lefty gets cold in the winter.

you can't see mine because of the tint. I even disconnected it, so you don't even know its there.

That's some dark tint, is it 20%?

Looks like everyone has dropped this subject but I need some help on this topic. Just purchased an '06 IS350 and had tint applied over the weekend. Installer detached the 3rd brake light and didn't properly re-install it or so I think - just left it sitting over the opening. I see the clips underneath the unit but can't figure out how to firmly attach it correctly. It's making an annoying sound every time I pass over a blemish in the road. Any help is much appreciated.

^Can't you guys go back to the tint shop(s) and tell them to put it back? That's an incomplete job that you paid for if you ask me.

OP: Way back when there was a member who did some overlays for the third brake light. Not sure if that's what you had in mind, or where to find the thread, but it's an option. He had "LEXUS" cut out and then he laid it over the light. Looked like it was just vinyl cutouts.
