1. With your foot *off* the brake, bush the start button twice. Cycle through your trip odometer settings and make sure it is displaying "ODO", *not* trip A or trip B.

2. Push the "start" button one more time, turning off the ignition.

3. With the ignition off, push and hold the trip odometer button. Now push the start button twice, again, with your foot *off* the brake. (remember to keep holding the trip odometer button) Keep holding the trip odometer button while the ignition is on until the service light goes out.

That's it.

This is how I do it. (From ignition off)

1. Press start once [Foot off brake]
2. Press and hold trip reset button
3. Press start once [Foot off brake]
4. Continue holding trip reset until ----- disappears

When does the light usually come on? Exactly when the oil change is due or way pass it. I never get the message even when I go pass schedule a month pass.

Oil indicator comes on at startup only to remind you to change the oil soon and at some point, the oil indicator will stay on the whole time once it is past the mileage for an oil change.

It only measures miles, not months. Warning that goes away in a few seconds starts at 4,500 miles past last reset; warning that stays on constantly starts at 5,000 miles past.

That explains it. I always go past months but not miles.

That's why unless you open the manual, you have to take it to the dealer to do oil change LOL

In the future please check out the 2IS FAQ/DIY thread stickied at the top of the 2nd gen IS sub-forum. This and many, many other questions are answered there.
