Default Price of 60k service for IS350??

Hey guys, I'm just coming up on my 60k mile maintenance, and the dealer I always go to is asking for around $900 to complete it. I was just curious if that was an appropriate price for the service or not. I've never questioned them before and I don't have too much reason to, but I just felt like it might not be a bad idea to find out what everybody else usually pays for that sort of thing.

Soo, if you've had it done, how much did it cost you?

People will tell you to do it yourself or go to the dealer. I say which ever makes you feel comfortable and/or if you can afford it. I got mine done at the dealer and I paid $1000 w/alignment.

OK, so $900 isn't that bad of a price then? I just wanted to make sure...

wow 60k miles. I'm close to hitting the 30k and i hear it will cost a bit also. There is a maintainence scedule that will show you what has to be replaced/checked for the car at 60k miles. I have yet to read up to the 60k miles. I like to go to the dealer to get the service done because it will be stored in the Lexus online database and you will have an electronic record of the service.

That's the other reason I go to the dealer.

The lexus owner web site lets you see the service history of your registered car, and you can also submit your own maintenance to show up along with the dealers entries.

Yeah, but if you are going to sell your car and you print this service record out for a potential buyer. They will see that you or someone else serviced your car and that might be a show stopper to selling your it IMO.

That's what I used to think also. Look, I take care of my cars (mechanical & appearance) b/c I'm a car enthusiast. But in my experience when it comes time to sell your car, it really doesn't matter much. People will look at a price guide which gives a spread of maybe $500 between a used car in "excellent" condition and one in "average" condition...and no buyer will negotiate based off the "excellent" dollar value as there is always something they're going to nitpick.

there will always be buyers that will refer to a price guide for a used car, but then again there are buyers that has a price on how much they FEEL the car SHOULD be.

I think as long as u have proof (car fax, service history records, and etc) that the car has been taken care of properly, you will have better success in selling the vehicle.

Check the prices at other local Lexus dealers and compare.

Why do that service? Just change the oil, check tires yourself and go from there. I never go by lexus recommended 30/60/90k services - it's just a rip-off. They charge $100 just to go around the car

$726 was the quoted price.

I had the brake recall and dustless pads installed so the brake fluid was already changed. I had them do the tranny, coolant, and oil change for $240. I did the air and AC filter for about $45 myself. At 75k miles they did a free inspection and didn't find anything to adjust...

My tires don't rotate. Nothing is leaking, nothing is sqeeking or loose. I can do the filters and wiperblades myself. Save some money. They wanted to do the fluids at 30k miles and I said the car is not even a year old---they said typical lexus owners' cars are about 4 years old with 30k miles so that's why they recommend fluid changes at 30 and 60.
