Thanks!
I'm in Arizona and run 10W-30 Pennzoil in all my vehicles because it never gets to freezing here and the summers are hot.

Question: I live in Canada, in a city where the winters can either be mild or very cold (up to -42 deg. Celsius last year). Should I stick with 5w30 full synthetic, or switch to 5w20, or even 0w20 or 0w30 for the winters??

I drive an 08 AWD, has about 37k miles (58000 kms). My next oil change is scheduled for 40k miles I think.

I would go 0w30. It'll get to the idea thickness fastest.
here's a bit more info for you -

Today for instance, during mid day it reached 96. That is basically the normal temps here. Would 5w-30 or 10w-30 be more suitable? During startup it's about 80 in the morning and climbs up to 96.

Is the temperature like that all-year round? I'd suggest just sticking with 5w-30 incase temps drop.

Yup, that's pretty much how it is year round. So 5w-30 would be preferred over 10w-30?

See my post above. IMO, you should use 10W-30 if your never going to see temperatures below freezing and you experience hot temperatures during normal driving.

Anyone switch to a "high mileage" synthetic oil after 75k+ miles? Just curious. I've been using Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5w30 this whole time, but now i'm nearing 80k I'm wondering if the Mobil 1 5w30 Full Synthetic High Mileage will have any benefit. It's the same price.... lol

What's the difference between the 2? I'm almost at 85k and I'm still using the regular Mobil1 full synthetic 5w-30.

^^^Hmmm looking at the Mobil 1 website, it looks like its just got extra anti-wear and cleaning additive as well as a seal conditioner. Wonder if it's really needed though in a motor that's always seen synthetic oil....
