Oil Change - 5w-20 or 5w-30? What everyone is using?

the _w-20 will give you better fuel economy than _w-30 because it is a touch thinner at operating temp. less friction, better flow. maybe even a little more power.
if you're not tracking your car, you can use 0w-20 just fine. if you're tracking, you might wanna use 0w-30 or 0w-40 because operating temp is around 300 F.
for driving around town, you could probably run 0w-10 if they made it.

My buddy who works for lexus, suggest highly that I used 5w-20... He was just like trust me, much better for the engine. I went to Advanced auto in CT and was only able to find Castrol syntec 5w-20. I'll pick up Mobile next time around. But my vote is for 5W-20

I used 5W20 as per TSIB but that only applies to 2006
Toyota doesn't say what it should be on 2007 and up, as of now the oil cap still has 5W30 printed on it. And I found most members here are not using the 5W20 anymore. So much for oil migration.
I did use mobil 1 5W20 for my last 2 oil changes, and I feel the 5W20 is a bit too thin. Mobil 1 oil is already thinner than other brands to begin with. I feel it is like water thin.
I changed to castro edge 5W30, it is made in USA, and it is supposed to be made from pure synthetic stock. No German syntec hunting at autozone anymore.
I figure the 30 in 5W30 won't hurt the lubrication and is actually ideal on those 100F days. I know I can drive the car hard and not worry about the oil getting too thin.

At 41000 miles, switched from mobil 1 5w30 synthetic to amsoil 0w-30 signature series. I have noticed that the gear shifts are definitely smoother, especially from 1st gear to 2nd gear on my auto transmission. However, the cost for 7 quarts set me back about $62 bucks. Definitely worth it.
