Default Dealing with paint chips and rust

So I have had my IS350 for a total of 1.5 months now and love it. The only thing are 3 chips of pain that are down to the metal. If they stayed like this and didn't get any bigger or rust through I wouldn't have a problem with them but the issue is with them rusting through.

What can I do to fix this? The chips are on the edges or rounded part of the body panel and are about half the size of my pinky fingernail. If it is rusting would it be covered under the warranty? If not what can I do to prevent it from continuing to rust?

Ignore the dirt . I just washed it.

Rust from chips and scratches are not covered under warranty. Go to the dealership and get some touch-up paint and cover the chips with as little paint as you can (the dealers have touch up paint with pens in the top now).

I'd get some touch-up paint! How do you get some many rock chips on your roof? I would consider getting an A-pillar and roof clear paint protection kit.

Thanks for the info. How much does it cost for the pens?

On a side note is it just me or did I just get a really thin coat of paint on my car because I never had this problem with either of my last 2 cars. I had chips and dings in my paint and stuff from normal stuff in my old cars, but I can't remember ever having multiple chips down to the metal.

it's probably because you got rock chip on the edge, where paint is thinnest!

I have no idea how I got the chips, I am assuming rocks but I really think its because of a thin paint job. I have 3 places like this ALL on the fold of the metal.

I have a few chips on my hood and fender, mainly from highway driving. But I guess these "chips" are to be expected if you use yoru car as a daily driver.

I just went to the Sewell website and searched for "paint"

They run about $8.71 with the "clublexus" promotional code discount.

Here is a link for the color SGM. Don't know what color you have but you'll get the picture.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

Touch up pens gt kinda messy. Best thing to do is get some touch up paint and a syringe, start by laying a thin coat to the chip then just build it up till you satisfied with results.
