Do you have larger pics of your IS, specifically the roof?

talk to UV.. he had his whole car wrapped in matte black vinyl... went to the treasure island show and everyone was asking where he got the "paint job" from... vinyl can look very good IF the installer knows what theyre doing.

Cool! Thanks!

If he is local (bay area), I'll see if I can meet him to take a look.

(sorry for the huge pic)

Glossy Black Vinyl.

Pros:
-reversible
-Actual work doesnt take as long as paint job (one of my main reason for going vinyl)
-it will protect your roof/oem paint from minor debris

Cons:
-Not as glossy as paint job and you can "feel" the material to touch
(though i think you can wax/polish the vinyl to make it more glossy and paint-like feel)
-seems to attract more dust (could be subjective)

Like someone mentioned, it depends on how good the installer is, but that applies to paint as well.

Overall, i'm satisfied with the outcome. It is a good way to go if you're not sure if you want a black roof/planning on keeping the car since its reversible. I'm actually thinking about taking it off and getting it re-done in CF. The CF weave print doesnt look half bad and its next best thing until someone makes CF roof for ISx50

your thoughts ?

Thanks for posting Kentaro, and along with your personal feedbacks with vinyl.

Looks pretty nice from the pic. CF is a great idea but I probably stay away from CF vinyl roof. Reason being, 1) doesn't flow well with a sunroof 2) it will look cheap/fake from near and from far away. Just my opinion.

My team is trying to work out a sponsorship with this shop/company and if everything works out well, i'll be able to try various materials/prints on the IS both exterior and interior, maybe even under the hood

Maybe i'll even start a "request" post where people can reply what they'd like to see and i'll try to get it done and post up pictures.

How durable is the vinyl? Is it prone to scratching?

Great question. I never thought about the possibility of getting scratch/rock chip. Maybe I will not do it just for that reason...no fix to a scratch/chip vinyl.
