Mark Levingson Sub blew up? problems?
#16
The wording "they have to prove what you did was the cause" is a bit optimistic. It makes it sound like there is a presumption that the aftermarket part did not cause the problem, unless proven otherwise. In practice, the burden of proof that the part didn't cause the problem may fall on you. SEMA, the third-party equipment marketing association, has a much better interpretation of the law on their website: http://www.semasan.com/main/main.aspx?id=60128
With regard to aftermarket parts, the spirit of the law is that warranty coverage cannot be denied simply because such parts are present on the vehicle, or have been used (see Attachment A).The warranty coverage can be denied only if the aftermarket part caused the malfunction or damage for which warranty coverage is sought. Disputes in this area usually boil down to arguments over facts and technical opinions, rather than arguments over interpretations of the law.

like on my olds i put airride on it and was told by my dealership that every item that was replaced by aftermarket was voided. but if the 1/2 shaft went bad it was covered or the wheel bearing went bad it was covered. but the struts was not covered any more

My sub has blown 5 times so far since 11/06. It's absolutely ridiculous that this sub has blown that much. I listen to music louder in my E92 M3 and it's perfectly fine. Also, my dad's LX470's sub has blown at least 3 times along with several of his speakers. He is a 56YO Doctor, he doesn't listen to music loud at all

Since ML does not make speakers themselves or part of their product offering, what vendor/brand are these speakers...? I just assumed that the speakers were provided by Revel that is also part of the Harmon Group, but that may not be the case - at least for the sub anyhow.
Too bad one of the new "flat" subs like from JL, Pioneer, ect. do not plug in w/out mod.

Hey guys sorry for the late reply. I did get the car back the day after I sent it in. It looks like they fixed the rattle issue pretty well.
Thanks guys for the help. I guess since I have a long way to go for warranty. Time to blow it again

My front left tweeter was blown after 3 months of getting the car....had it replaced and no problems since. I also listen to music quite loud, volume in the 30's. Only sound I hear is the rattling of the rear sunshade when it is up...

I don't understand why this sub blows so easily. It shouldn't have these problems unless there's clipping, and I would expect the ML amp to push enough clean RMS power to (more than) handle that little sub. What's the deal??
